1. What initially drew you to a career within Reward, and why did you choose this field?
I kind of fell into my reward role, I’d worked in recruitment, HR shared services and projects and when the opportunity came up to broaden my role and take on reward, something that had never had a focus in my organisation at the time, I jumped at it.
I’ve always been organised, methodical and up for a challenge, so getting involved in pension changes, implementing a flexible benefits system, job evaluation and benchmarking from scratch was appealing to me.
2. Which skills are you excited to bring to your role at Innecto?
My customer relationship management and my love of benefits. I genuinely love getting to know people and working with them to achieve their objectives. Customer service has always been important to me and everyone’s different, so there’s no one way to get something done, it’s about getting to know your client and the business.
I’m passionate about people making the most of the benefits that are available to them and making real savings on their everyday expenditures, so any way in which we can help people to do that, the better.
3. What motivated you to join our team at Innecto?
I’ve worked with Innecto as one of their clients in two previous organisations and always found them to be a professional yet relatable organisation, with great team members and a real can-do attitude.
Consultancy has always interested me as well, the variety of working with different clients and on numerous different projects.
4. What excites you about potential advancements or changes in Reward?
For me it's being able to see the positive impact of reward; pay transparency will have its challenges, but it should also enable a more grown-up organisation that better understands its employees and their output.
The total reward approach is also far more than salary and bonus opportunity, it’s about how and where we work, what we get in return for our output, learning opportunities and most importantly choice because one size doesn’t fit all.
5. What aspects of your role are you most excited about diving into?
Getting to know the clients, building my relationships with them and delivering positive changes to their current policies and processes.
6. Which employee benefit are you the most excited to use?
Gosh, that’s a hard one, as I love them all! I’m most intrigued about the electric car salary sacrifice scheme, but I’m not sure I’m ready to make the jump to fully electric just yet! Otherwise, it will be the various shopping discounts as I love getting a bargain!
7. What advice do you have for aspiring Reward professionals?
I’d say attend relevant webinars, conferences etc, get experience in your existing role if you can, be inquisitive and network, if you can get a mentor, then learning from someone with experience is invaluable.
Reward is so varied, so think about what interests you – compensation, benefits, pensions, the list goes on. It’s an interesting role, and in the last few years a job has grown in demand, so there are opportunities out there.
8. What does your 5-9 look like post your 9-5 job?
Busy! I’m a Wife and Mum of 3 boys, aged 12, 7 and 3, as well as being a bit of a social butterfly. You’ll often find me out having meals or coffee with friends, taking the boys to football/swimming/beavers, helping with homework and when I can fit it in doing some classes at the gym. I value my 1:1 time with my husband so if we get a babysitter we love to eat out or spend the night away somewhere, I also love a good shopping spree and capturing life moments on camera, one of my favourite quotes is: 'take pictures of everything, because you never know when those pictures are all you have left.'
