1. What does a typical working day look like?
Every day is varied depending on the projects I am working on – I could be calculating a client’s gender pay gap in the morning, cost modelling in the afternoon and catching up with colleagues and clients in-between.
2. What initially drew you to a career within Reward, and why did you choose this field?
My background in HR has mainly been in business partnering but I have always been numbers-driven and enjoy working with data. In my last role, I was involved in a large-scale reward project where I was tasked with cost modelling a raft of changes to variable elements of pay (bonus, overtime, allowances etc) for 4,000+ employees. I enjoyed it so much I thought I’d have a go at doing it full-time!
3. What excites you about potential advancements or changes in Reward?
Reward is continually changing, so not knowing what’s coming next is part of the fun. I don’t think the discussion around hybrid/remote work, location premiums and pay has been put to bed just yet so I am intrigued to see how this will play out.
4. What sort of company is Innecto to work for?
Being fairly new my initial impressions are that the Innecto team are a friendly bunch of people who genuinely care about what they do and don’t stand still – there is always one eye on the future and an openness to new ways of doing things and being better so it’s a great place to work if you like change and new ideas, and are interested in how tech can be used to enhance Reward.
5. Which is your favourite/most used employee benefit?
Annual leave is the obvious one, but I do enjoy redeeming any recognition vouchers I’ve received and using them to get a guilt-free Deliveroo.
6. What advice do you have for aspiring Reward professionals?
Give it a go! If you want to get into Reward, being analytical and good at Excel is a valuable skill. It’s easy to upskill yourself in this area too, as there are many free courses and materials.
7. Which series/book are you hooked on?
I’m a bit behind the times but I am currently watching Game of Thrones for the first time – I didn’t think it would be for me but I’m absolutely loving it. (I’m on season 5 so no spoilers please!). I’m also watching Married at First Sight Australia (10/10 for drama).
