With household costs increasing, most employees are feeling the financial pressure as their take home pay doesn't stretch as far as it used to. Come pay review time, employee expectations may be that they will be receiving larger pay increases to help make ends meet. However, at the same time, companies are reporting an increase in their costs and a fall in revenues, meaning there may be less in the pay budget than before.
This leaves a challenge for employers - how to motivate and retain key talent, at a time when there may be less resources to do so than before.
