As usual, we’ve brought together predictions for pay and reward, with economic, legislative and industry forecasts for pay settlements and reward trends, to help inform your own decisions and policies. Following a decisive General Election, there’s a tone of cautious optimism for the economy. Unemployment remains at a historic low, which means having to optimise your employee deal in order to stay competitive in a tight labour market.
The key theme this year is Responsible Reward. We’re seeing increased pressure on organisations to lead by example and have a corporate conscience. Underpinning all this is transparency, as you’ll see in our sections on low pay, high pay, and gender/ethnicity/disability pay. Although this isn’t a radically new concept, evidence shows that organisations are choosing to disclose more and more about themselves, and for good reason as investors, consumers and employees call for organisations to act in a more sustainable and accountable way.
